What are his biggest inspirations?
Growing up in the early 2000s, Nintendo games and the characters that come with them were a vital part of my childhood. My earliest memories are choosing a starter in Pokemon Pearl, swinging Link's sword around in Skyward Sword, and taking turns on challenging Super Mario Galaxy stages. These experiences have shaped who I am today and what I will bring to the world in the future.
Creators like Hideo Kojima and Neil Druckmann have greatly inspired me since my formative years. To credit the success of their landmark titles to them alone would be a disservice to the many talented people who worked alongside them, but the willingness to stand behind a project and become its public face is its own kind of bravery. It reflects real confidence, both in themselves and in the team behind them.
These forms of media (plus video games, of course) are conglomerates of many different art forms. Beyond the works themselves, the effort behind their conception and creation is incredibly inspiring. Other influences come from old Adult Swim cartoons like Superjail! and even older animated films like Heavy Metal. Musically, my biggest inspiration is King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard, whose constant experimentation and willingness to reinvent have had a lasting impact on the way I think about creativity.
